I can understand accepting a bonus at the end of the year at work, but bragging about recieving Christmas cards and money in the cards to people? Bragging in and of itself is sinful, much less bragging that you got cards from people celebrating a day dedicated to the Devil. (JW explanation.)

A thing that bothers me about JW and Christmas
by zagor inis that they dont celebrate it but are quite happy to accept gifts or money given by many companies at the end of a year as christmas gift.
in fact, ive heard all sorts of excuses ranging from well thats our money that weve earned over the year anyway to well we shouldnt really offend anyone
it looks like as long as you are receiving money or gifts its okay.

Watchtower publications Quotes you'd like to share
by dannyboy inplease give examples of noteworthy quotations from publications of the watchtower society.
examples could include where they have contradicted themselves, have been inconsistent with logic, have been patronizing, or how what was written rocked you back.
think about quotes that would be helpful to a sincere witness or "newly interested" person in seeing the watchtower society for what it really is.

Yeah, someone had made a reference to it on another forum(one I used to admin) when I asked what they thought of whether Jesus died on a cross or on a stake as the JWs claim. Maybe I'll have to stop being lazy and do a thorough search online for that article.

I think that you better get out of that blue funk. Things get better with time, but you've got to be willing to help. You're out of the dubs, now go on with your life. It's never to late to start.
Being an ex-JW is only one of many problems. You act like it's just holding me back. It may be, but there is a lot more going on than just that. I have no friends, I'm going through a divorce and was forced to move back in with my parents. They don't celebrate anything, so here I am. I used to have a decent job and an apartment, because of my wife, all that is gone. I'm in a new state now, and there are no jobs here. I went from making $10-14 an hour(depending upon commission) to making $7.25 at McDonalds.
So excuse my pessimism.

Was Jesus the Christ even at birth? - not according to the Watchtower
by hooberus inthe watchtower claims that jesus was not the christ at his birth but instead that he did not become the christ until the time of his baptism:.
"not at birth, but at thirty years of age jesus became christ .

No no no, you have it all wrong. The scripture says "the word was a god." You need to use the correct translation ;)
Kidding of course. The word really should be "logos" though.

Have you ever said " Happy Hanukkah" to a Jew?
by moshe inwe went out to lunch today and when the server brought our check he wished us a merry christmas.
my six year old daughter piped up " we celebrate hanukkah".
when the server returned he couldn't get out a " happy hannukah" - he stumbled for words- finally said something about a happy holiday.

I would have no problem saying it. My friend Evan taught me to swear in Hebrew, the least I can do is wish him a happy Channakuh(sp).
Viva l'Azazel!

There was an article in a Watchtower, must have been in the late 80s or early 90s. They sort of say as an aside, really quietly, "Christ might have actually died on a cross after all but we'll keep saying torture stake regardless." I wish I knew the exact issue.

Nope. I've stuck with my plans of eating bland food and sitting on the internet. I didn't succeed with my not eating till midnight plan though.
